Saw this on Boing Boing late last night, looks pretty interesting. What is it? CopyCamp is…
“An unconference for artists about the Internet and the challenge to copyright”
Sounds like a really good idea, wish we could make the trip up to Toronto. In true BarCamp fashion they are following the ‘unconference’ rules of everyone that attends is expected to contribute. Of course not in BarCamp fashion is that you have to pay $700 to attend, seems a bit steep although they are offering subsidies to artists and other worthy ‘creators’. It seems like they are trying to seperate the corp types from the true artists & designers by requiring such a high entry fee.
Either way I’m interested to see what comes out of this and wish them the best of luck.
update: Chris Messina posted a good overview of the BarCamp vs CopyCamp model on the barCamp blog titled CopyCamp and exclusivity. Be sure to check out the comments for an explaination of what the CopyCamp guys are using the money for – makes sense.
