pictoplasma

Pictoplasma is coming up October 11-14th in Berlin. Pictoplasma is:

4 days jam-packed with lectures, artist presentations, animation screenings, workshops, panel discussions, shows, exhibitions, installations, revisiting friends, doodle & scribble lounges, live performances, vj battles, costume karaoke, all night parties and no sleep at all…

During the conference you can checkout the character walk a tour through more than 30 exhibitions, installations & partner events showcasing modern character design. You can also adopt a character at the PictoOrphanage in different stages of birth (one of the strangest things I’ve seen in a while, but hey, NO WAY this is some boring ol stuffy conference, that’s for sure).

To get the most up-to-date info you can checkout the Pictoplasma diary.

COLOURlovers

COLOURlovers is a community about colors. Sounds basic but the site is designed really well. They are relaunching it in November and having a pretty cool poster contest to promote the new site. The current site is pretty helpful and I really like the palettes feature allowing users to create their own custom palettes – every design geek’s dream come true!

Cut & Paste

Cut&Paste has announced their national call for entries for their design tournaments coming up in New York, Chicago, LA and San Francisco. Cut&Paste is a really cool competition pitting designers head to head. You can read about how it work on their site. Their core concept is really good:

* 1. Raise the Artists’ Profile – Providing visual artists new ways to demonstrate their creative skills and help them develop their audience following
* 2. Increase Professional Opportunities for Visual Artists – Creating connection between artists and potential clients and collaborators
* 3. Grow the Creative Community – Demystifying and revealing the creative process for enthusiasts and artists alike

You can also head over to their myspace profile to see what’s being discussed.

As previously mentioned fashion.psfk is doing an interview series on the online t-shirt revolution and the third and final installment has just been posted. This time Alex is talking to Peter Lundgren, CEO and Editor in Chief of T-Post. T-Post (also previously mentioned) is a cool subscription based shirt co that creates t-shirts commenting on current events and world issues.

T Journal

Just found this via myspace – looks pretty sweet. Not sure if they ship internationally since its in Australia but for $19.50AU seems like a steal! From the site…

Creative Director/partner Eddie Zammit of Grin Creative (based in Melbourne and Sydney) has just launched a bi-annual publication based on his favorite topic of T-shirts. Anyone that knows Eddie, will understand that he is quite simply obsessed with the idea of collecting T-shirts. “I have enough T-shirts in my wardrobe to at
least wear one a day for an entire year,” he said.

If anyone knows where to get one here in the US let me know!

Pete Cashmore over at Mashable has written a quick overview on innerTee and his thoughts on how we might do. Thanks Pete!

Can you believe it??? Not sure I can but its true!

Really want to say thanks to Kyle, Nathan & Drew for working so hard on this. I’m pretty sure Kyle is sleeping on his keyboard at the moment. Also I don’t think we could have gotten this far without the early support of the artists that have been such a big part in helping us figure out how it was all going to work.

We still have a ton to do but this a great step for us and I’m really proud to be involved with such a great team!

Now go sign up and we might let you in!! :)
